INFORMANT:

Here’s my story: I received a Facebook friend request from someone who had a mutual friend, and I accepted based on remembering the name ‘Jay’ being talked about by her.
His Facebook said Jay Keith. I could only view this profile once – from what I do remember, the picture was the same man in a white t-shirt with an AR-15 on the front and some smart little saying on it, with an American flag hanging from the corner (obviously standing in a front yard). The profile said he was from Dallas, and that he went to Texas University. There wasn’t much there. We started chatting a little on there and when I went back to look at his profile again I noticed he was missing from my friends list (right after I accepted him on hangouts). I didn’t think too much about it, thinking maybe hangouts is more secure?? If you give me y’alls email address, I can forward you the email from his ‘commander’ and whatever emails I have as well. I looked at hangouts just now and there is no information on his profile, there never was, and I just dismissed it thinking it was for safety reasons.
I talked to him on Hangouts and his sign on name was Jay Keith B. He said his daughter’s name was Jennifer. I got emails from him and her both- hers was jenniferkeith124@gmail.com , his was jay505909@gmail.com , and he wanted me to email his commander at kabulmilitaryvacation@gmail.com . He wanted money for an emergency leave.
He said his mother died in childbirth, his father died shortly after, he was passed to an aunt and uncle who abused him, then to his grandparents who took care of him until their death. At 17, after they had died, a Catholic Friar helped him get in the military. Based on conversation with him, he said he is now 47, currently in Kabul on peacekeeping. He has an 11 year old daughter named Jennifer, is a widower who lost his wife to a car wreck 5 years ago. He sounded like he was in a bad state of mind, and I thought if he was truly over there I should at least talk to him as a service to support the military. Before 24 hours had ended, he was already calling me his girlfriend and talking about wanting to come home to marry me – much too fast for my comfort level. He was very demanding as far as asking for the money to be sent, and kept asking until I had heard enough that I shut it down. It was clear to me what this conversation was about, so I ended it.

In fact the scammer wants to get you off site safety and isolated and will suggest you do so with WhatsApp, Hangouts etc . That puts you directly into danger and they can work on you completely unrestricted by anyone.
